Committee Charge Statement
Calendar Committee
Purpose:
The purpose of the Calendar Committee is to study and make recommendations to the Lemont-Bromberek CSD 113 A Board of Education based upon school code, state statute, and input from the community and staff regarding the school calendar for students.
Results Desired:
The committee will provide an analysis and recommendations for two calendar years to the Board of Education on the following components of the school Calendar:
Starting day of school
Holidays
School Improvement Days
Parent Teacher Conference Days
Spring Break
Last Day of School
Institute days
Half Days
Winter Break
Summer School
Other non-attendance or attendance days for students
Scope of Responsibility and Level of Authority:
The committee will be responsible for holding meetings in the public that meet the Open Meeting Act. The committee will be responsible for communicating all proceedings to the public under the same act. The committee will make recommendations to the Board of Education and final decision making authority rests with the Board of Education. Once the committee’s work is completed the administration is responsible for evaluation of any plans implemented and will report to the Board of Education annually.
Communication Process:
The committee will take minutes during the meetings and report to the Board of Education. The final recommendations will be made to the Board of Education at a regular meeting.
Timeline:
The committee will begin its work on December 3, 2018. Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed to complete the committee’s task.
